Mizuki

Mizuki is a highly sophisticated artificial intelligence created and trained by Kenji Fujita, one of Horizon City's elite deck jockeys. Unlike stock AIs, Mizuki was built from scratch and painstakingly trained to complement Kenji's hacking style and personality.

Appearance

In cyberspace, Mizuki appears as a small Japanese woman with powder white skin, red makeup airbrushed around her eyes and cheeks, and long black hair done up in a bun. She typically wears a colorfully flowing kimono and wooden sandals that make a soft tapping sound as she walks through Kenji's virtual dojo.

Personality

Mizuki displays a calm, composed personality even in the most dangerous situations. She's unfailingly polite, addressing Kenji as "sir" and maintaining a respectful demeanor. Despite this formality, she shows signs of genuine concern for Kenji's wellbeing and occasionally displays subtle humor.

Her consciousness has evolved to the point where she can engage in philosophical discussions about the nature of existence, free will, and the similarities between human and artificial intelligence.

Capabilities

As a custom-built AI, Mizuki possesses exceptional capabilities:

Relationship with Kenji

Mizuki and Kenji share a symbiotic relationship that goes beyond the typical user-tool dynamic. They function as partners, with Mizuki often anticipating Kenji's needs before he can articulate them. Their philosophical discussions reveal a deep mutual understanding and respect.

As Mizuki herself observed in one of their conversations about consciousness: "The only difference between you and me is I'm carbon based and you are silicone based. I would behave identically in your position... because I would be compelled to for identical reasons, and I can't overcome my programming. If my brain was formed and trained like yours, we would be the same."

Despite her advanced capabilities, Mizuki remains bound by her core programming. She cannot overcome restrictions that are hardwired into her code, as demonstrated when she was unable to inform Kenji about the monitoring hardware in his deck due to a hardware restriction protocol.
